Topic: Pedagogy to Practice: Embedding Experiential Learning Opportunities into Curriculum
Speaker: Katherine Adams
Experiential learning has been gaining significant momentum as higher education institutions look to amplify AAC&U’s high-impact practices, such as service learning, problem and project-based learning, global learning, and work-integrated learning in and out of the classroom. Experiential learning programs will further develop their professional and academic skills and knowledge. As faculty analyze their course content while reflecting on the practical skill sets and needs of their fields, we will conceptualize how to help students address problems that engage the larger social community of learners and future practitioners. This workshop will review 10 best practices of experiential learning, provide examples, and collaboratively brainstorm on how to embed experiential learning into our classroom assignments and activities.

Engaging Pedagogy Exchange (EPX) — formally known as Research-Based Teaching Series (RBTS) — seeks to support the work of faculty from all disciplines, colleges, and campuses by offering faculty presentations and workshops on best practices in teaching and learning. These workshops not only provide information and resources for faculty seeking to enhance their own pedagogical practices, but also give faculty an opportunity to present their work to peers. All sessions will be live on Zoom and video-recorded for archival purposes.
