Dr-Jaimie-Edwards

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Jaimie Edwards is joining our PSIA community as a professor of American Government in the Fall. Dr.  Edwards comes to us from Virginia Tech, where she studied networks and collaboration among food security organizations. Her thesis was “Over the River and Through the Woods:  Examining the Relationship between Network Structure, Collaboration, and Geography” focusing on how nonprofits, businesses and government work together. Dr. Edwards holds her master’s degree in Public Administration from Augusta University and her Ph.D in Public Administration and Public Affairs from Virginia Tech.

At Virginia Tech, she taught United States Public Policy and United States Policy Analysis. At UNG, she will be teaching American Government in the Fall, American Government and the Foundations on Public Administration in the Spring, and Gender in Public Administration in the Fall of 2021.

Dr. Edwards applied for the position at UNG because she was excited about the service involved as she was also in the military. As at UNG, there is a Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech, which she says brings an interesting perspective to her classes. She is excited to teach students about public administration and how the American government affects our everyday lives. She is interested in seeing how online classes are going to work and how to engage students due to COVID.

Dr. Edwards says, “I love teaching American Government in an election cycle because the students get to see it played out in real life…it is very relevant.” She notes, “I am really excited to be at UNG and thrilled to start with the team.”
