Films On Demand

Films On Demand, a database with more than 43,000 recordings, has started adding Audio Description (AD) to its videos. Audio Description is additional audio that describes the on-screen action for the blind or visually impaired. The description is in addition to the video’s regular audio track.

This is a long-term initiative that began earlier this year.

Videos with Audio Description are labeled with an AD icon, similar to the CC icon used to indicate closed captions.

Unfortunately, the AD audio track is not accessible from within eLearning@UNG (D2L).

To access a Films On Demand video with Audio Description:

  1. Log in to Films On Demand. (see Feb. 2019 DETI Digest for instructions)
  2. Search by video title or ID.
  3. Click the AD icon and adjust the audio level of the descriptive track and play the video.
