What’s New

Respondus

Respondus LockDown Browser now allows an instructor to do live proctoring with a video conference application, such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Blackboard Collaborate, for a synchronous quiz in eLearning@UNG (D2L).

The instructor provides the access code during the live video conference and monitors the students during the exam. RLDB does not record the session or alert the instructor of suspicious activity.

New Discussion Availability Date Setting

D2L has consolidated the Availability and Lock Dates in a Discussion Topic and Forum.

New Date Setting

There is only one set of dates with three options. Before and after the start and end dates have the following behavior for each option:

  • Visible with access restricted before start/after end – Visible in discussion list but not clickable
  • Visible with submission restricted before/after start/end – Visible and clickable for viewing, but can’t post
  • Hidden before/after start/end – Not visible on discussion list

Note:  If your topic had different availability and lock dates, the new dates will be set to the more restrictive of the two start and end dates.

New Discussion Evaluation Screen

The new discussion evaluation screen is optional until December 2021.

Here is a brief explanation of the three highlighted areas:

  1. The thread and replies the student has made.
  2. The assessment area. If there is a rubric, it can be expanded or collapsed. Grades and feedback can be entered here.
  3. Click on the three dots (ellipsis) to view your topic details or list of threads.

Smarthinking

The free online tutoring service available to all UNG students has added a code editor for computer science tutoring sessions. They have also added additional help, including audio, for English-language learners (ELL).

Many subject areas are available 24/7 for drop-in tutoring while others require a schedule appointment.
