It’s for Students and Instructors
Smarthinking provides free online tutoring in more than 150 subject areas for all UNG students (face-to-face and online). Many of the subjects have tutors available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In addition to tutoring, it provides suggestions for improving essays and paragraphs, résumés, poetry, and short stories. English as a Second Language (ESL) assistance is also available.
Instructors can require students to submit a written assignment for review and read the tutor’s feedback. A student (or students) can be referred to Smarthinking for tutoring.
Faculty View
There are four main sections on the Smarthinking welcome page:
1) Login as a Student
See the Smarthinking interface as a student would see it.
2) Review Alerts for My Students’ Referred Sessions
Your students’ essay alert reviews are posted here. Smarthinking also provides an overall view of your class, in 14 categories, to help spot trends in your students’ submissions.
3) Review My Students’ Referred Sessions and Submissions
Read your students’ submissions and tutor comments.
4) Refer My Student(s) to Tutoring
Submit an individual student or upload a list (use the downloadable template) of students for tutoring. Smarthinking will email the student(s) and offer assistance.

Student View

Work with a Tutor or Career Coach
Drop in to connect with a live tutor on core subjects 24/7. Not all subjects are available at all times. Make an appointment for a future tutoring session or change a scheduled session. Make an appointment with a career coach to improve job interview skills.
Submit My Writing or Career Documents
Send an essay or a draft for review. Smarthinking will also review résumés and creative writing assignments.

Review My Sessions and Submissions
Find transcripts of past sessions, responses, reviews, or a list of upcoming tutoring sessions.
Submit a Question
Submit a question and receive a response typically within 24 hours.

Students are provided with 600 minutes (10 hours) of live tutoring. An email will be sent when nearing the limit. Students can email UNG’s Online Student Success Advisors at UNGOnline@ung.edu to request more time. There is no need to purchase additional minutes.

WRITING
Essay Review, Grammar, Organize and Cite Research, Resume/Cover, Letter Review, LinkedIn Profile Review, Workplace Writing Review, Job Interview Prep and Coaching.
NURSING
Geriatrics, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Mental Health, Nursing Administration, Nursing Anatomy & Physiology, Nursing Care Plans, Pathophysiology, Nursing Pharmacology, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Oncology, and Nursing Essays.
