On-Campus Proctoring

Three Options for In-Person Exams

All UNG Online undergraduate courses require at least one proctored exam. While DETI offers several virtual proctoring services, on-campus options are also available. We do recommend that instructors offer at least one virtual and one on-campus proctoring option for their students or be willing to work with students that might need to utilize an authorized testing center. Students can often find that their equipment does not meet the technical requirements for virtual proctoring services or have special accommodations that need to be met.

UNG Student Accessibility Services can provide testing for students with accommodations.

Instructor Proctoring

Instructors have the option to proctor their own exams with no cost to students. This can be done virtually; however, some instructors have chosen or are required to proctor in-person due to various reasons. If choosing to proctor in-person, instructors will need to reserve UNG classroom space well before the proctored exam to ensure space availability.

Authorized Testing Locations

UNG students may be located anywhere in the U.S. or out of the country (e.g., military students). In addition, dual enrolled students may need to test at their high school with their guidance counselor or another administrator acting as a proctor. Students should contact the instructor for approval before utilizing an authorized testing location. If approved, students are responsible for providing the instructor with the contact information to the authorized testing location, date, and time they are scheduled, and a list of required exam information that needs to be provided by the instructor. The instructor then contacts the authorized testing location and provides the necessary exam information.

UNG Testing Centers

UNG Testing Centers is the most convenient on-campus proctoring option. Instructors are not required to self-proctor their exams. Instead, the UNG Testing Centers have certified test proctors. It also allows students to take their proctored exam at the most convenient time and location for them within their testing window. UNG Testing Centers have locations at the Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Oconee campuses.

Students are responsible for registering and scheduling their exams through the UNG Testing Centers. They are also responsible for communicating with their instructor and providing the testing location, testing location contact information, date, and time they are scheduled, and a list of exam information that needs to be provided by the instructor.

The instructor is responsible for contacting the UNG Testing Centers via email at ungonlinetesting@ung.edu and provide the following exam information. We also recommend instructors provide their best contact information in the event the testing center needs to contact the instructor.

Exam information will need to include the following:

  • exam duration
  • exam window
  • exam password
  • any material that will be allowed during your exam
