“Congratulations” are in order for Cadet (now alumnus) Phillip Ly and Cadet Andrew Flournoy for their achievement in being recognized as Distinguished Military Graduates for Fall 2022. Distinguished Military Graduates (DMG) finish in the top 20% of Army graduates on the national Order of Merit List by achieving superior grade-point averages, strong performance in the Army Combat Fitness Test, and proving their worth as exceptional leaders in their college ROTC training program.

Out of the eleven UNG cadets recognized, the two hail from the PSIA department, both majoring in Strategic and Security Studies:

– Andrew Flournoy from Osborn Park High School

– Philip Ly from Forest Park High School

Ly can now add this award to his longstanding list of achievements as he previously earned the nationally competitive Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship, Boren Scholarship, Freeman-Awards for Study in Asia scholarship, and a Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship.

Following his graduation from UNG this past December, Philip received his commission as a military intelligence officer with the GA National Guard and plans to further his career in the non-profit sector. Andrew received his branch assignment in November to the infantry and is on track to receive his commission and undergraduate degree from UNG in August of 2023.
