Modern Language Day 2018 was held in April 12 in the Dahlonega Campus
Dr. Valerie Hastings coordinated the Modern Language Day with the assistance of other faculty members from the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and the Department of Spanish.
Modern Language Day 2018 featured the Language Bowl Competition, writing competition, and skits and performances in different languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, and Russian. Participants joined from multiple high schools in Georgia including:White County School, Chestatee School, North Hall High School, Lumpkin High School, Gainesville High School, Jackson County School.
White County School won round 1 of the Language Bowl Competition, and Chestatee School, won round 2 of the Language Bowl Competition. The Final winner of the Language bowl Competition is Chestatee School.
Also, the first madel goes to Madison Keel from Gainesville High School, the second medal goes to Katie S. from Gainesville High School, the third medal does to Taylor S. from from Gainesville High School, and an honor prize goes to White County School.
First prize in crafts goes to Joel A. from North Hall High School, the second prize to Katie Quash from Gainesville High School, and the third prize in crafts goes to Juliana Gulmez from North Hall High School. The honor prize in crafts goes to North Hall High School.
The First prize in Arts goes to Jackson Country School, the second prize goes to A. Masters from Jacksons County School, and the third prize in arts goes to Naomi from Chestatee High School.
Finally, the winners of creative writing: Rocio Sanchez & Julia Mendez in Chinese from Gainesville High School, Evelyn Tapia and Katherine Robinson in Spanish from North Hall High School, and Elena Twyman in Spanish from Lumpkin High School.
