Four alumni and one senior selected as Fulbright finalists
UNG’s five Fulbright finalists are:
- Madalyn Beacham (Arabic major), a December 2019 graduate from McDonough, Georgia, with a degree in international affairs. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in international relations in Turkey while she researches education strategies for young adult refugees.
- Karley Mathews (French and Russian major), a December 2019 graduate from Blairsville, Georgia, with a degree in modern languages with a concentration in Russian language and literature. She will teach English in Belarus.
- Emile Phommavongsy, a May 2017 graduate from Mount Airy, Georgia, with a degree in management. She will teach English in Laos.
- Bernhard “Benny” Purk, a December 2018 graduate from Cleveland, Georgia, with an international affairs degree. He will teach English in Germany.
- Candace Seabolt, a senior from Blue Ridge, Georgia, pursuing a degree in kinesiology with a teacher certification. She will teach English in Taiwan.
