Dr. Juman Al Bukhari, assistant professor of Arabic, presented her research on “The Influence of Technology on the Acquisition of Incidental Vocabulary” at the 2018 Arabic Applied Linguistics & SLA Conference (Sept. 2nd to Sept. 3rd, 2018) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Dr. Al Bukhari and her collaborator, Dr. John Dewey from the Department of Psychological Sciences, are investigating techniques for improving how students acquire second language vocabulary from story-based texts while accounting for individual differences in students’ level of experience and cognitive capacities.
