Chomping at the bit.

Posted by on December 26, 2012

The holiday with family and friends has been wonderful, and I cherish time with my wife, Kathy, but I’m ready to get back on the river!  I have taken care of a lot of administrative issues and rebuilt our pump house plumbing, so about all I have to do is get a paper written and submitted on the first part of the trip.  My goal is to submit it Thursday so that I can hit the river Friday.

I am leaving the sail, amas and akas, and a lot of heavier convenience gear behind for the approximately 480 miles left on the journey.  It would be nice to have the sail on some of the reservoirs, particularly Weiss and Allatoona, but shedding the weight in anticipation of nine portages seems like the better course.
