Shannon Casas at the Gainesville Times is brilliant. She has managed to do two things, both of which I know that I would be incapable of doing: 1) She has gotten all of the technical details of my sabbatical trip correct, but then has distilled them down into simple, clear language without losing details that might be meaningful to her readers, and 2) She has made a decidedly uncool person sound kinda cool. Kathy and I are planning on walking a lot and enjoying the beach today. This will be our last day at St. George Island. It has been relaxing, rejuvenating, romantic, and healing. I have reworked all of my gear for offshore travel and am just about ready to go. It looks like I will have favorable winds for deploying my canoe sail rig tomorrow. This will be a first for this trip. I will miss Kathy terribly, but I really am anxious for her to get back to work so that she can support me in the manner to which I have become accustomed.
