Trail’s End

I wonder how many places have been named that.

This place is located on the upper Chattahoochee River side of Lake Seminole on land leased from the Corps of Engineers. It is a beautiful setting, nicely laid out, with cabins, restaurant, store, and marina. Unfortunately, it appears that the property has been allowed to fall into some disrepair and clearly is lacking in promotion and attention to detail. Case in point: I woke up pretty chilly this morning, so I turned the thermostat up from 50 to 60 — nothing. Checked the fan — nothing — and the circuit breaker. When cycling that didn’t help, I bent around back to see if perhaps the external circuit breaker had been pulled. It had, for very good reason: the heater was gone. No one bothered to mention that detail when I checked in. A very nice maintenance man brought me a space heater, which is fine.

He told me that new owners are working hard to fix things up. I hope so, because it really is a cool place, and I would like to come back.
