I dropped by the VA clinic in Oakwood for some final blood work before heading out. They have been great about helping me maintain my health and prepare a good first aid kit for the trip. I took a 9-day Wilderness First Responder class up at Nantahala Outdoor Center in North Carolina this summer as part of my trip preparation, learning more about taking care of myself and others who might need help than I would have imagined.
The boat is nearly ready; I do still need to add two fittings to accommodate the ama-aka stabilization system for the sail that I will use on some reservoirs and parts of the open Gulf of Mexico. I have some more digitizing of maps and spreadsheet data entry to do today, so I’d better get with it.
I will admit to being a bit apprehensive about being able to keep up with and properly document the dye cloud, perform other water tests, and sleep a little. Of course, finding out if I can do all of that is a major part of what the project is about.
