“Only babies were scared of the Shadow Stealer.”

Only babies were scared of the Shadow Stealer. Elise took two steps towards the forest, then stepped back. It was dark in there and surely filled with animals with sharp claws and fangs, waiting for a silly little kid to walk in. She was scared. Very, very scared. Immeasurably scared. But only babies were scared of the Shadow Stealer.

“What are you waiting for, baby!” cried her friend from the darkness.

Elise took two steps again and then two more, but she should have held onto her fear because she was gone before the fifth step.
