On Tuesday, January 7, the Mike Cottrell College of Business lost a dear friend in Mike Banks who served as the Mike Cottrell College of Business’ Development Officer. During his tenure at the University of North Georgia, Banks had become a friend to many members of the faculty and staff within the Mike Cottrell College of Business. He served as part of the dean’s administrative staff and also on UNG’s Strategic Planning committee.
In addition to his working career, Banks was a lifelong volunteer, serving as a founding member of the John Jarrard Foundation, founding board member of the North Georgia Community Foundation, former Kiwanis Club president, former treasurer and board member of the Edmondson-Telford Center for Children, past member of the executive committee of United Way of Hall County and past chairman of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.
Banks is survived by his wife, Willia, his two children Joy and Bob, his mother Charlotte Banks and two brothers, Rod and JP.
He will be sorely missed.
