There are many options to explore at Gainesville Theatre Alliance, offered through Brenau University and the University of North Georgia. Below are requirements for degrees and institutions to help you determine which program is the best match for you.

Certificate in Theatre & Entertainment Technology

The Theatre & Entertainment Technology Certificate is one of a few in the nation and the only one in north Georgia that trains students to work in all facets of the entertainment industry. This unique program is designed to prepare individuals to work as skilled technicians, capable of functioning independently, or as part of a production team in the preparation and performance of theatrical/entertainment events. Sound and lighting technology are rapidly growing industries that are quickly finding new markets related to architecture and design, movie production, corporate theatre, religious institutions, national business conventions, commercials, and special event installations.

AA in Theatre

An Associate of Arts Degree with pathways to Theatre is available through the University of North Georgia. As part of Gainesville Theatre Alliance, the program is offered in cooperation with Brenau University. Courses include theatre appreciation, history, acting, scenic design, lighting, costume design, playwriting, movement, voice, and stage management, among others.

BFA in Design & Technology for Theatre

The Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Design & Technology for Theatre is available through both Brenau University and the University of North Georgia. It is a 120-hour degree designed to meet the educational employment requirements of workers in theatrical design and the entertainment technology industry. The BFA Design Tech program focuses on application as well as theory, with a firm scholarly foundation and an intensive hands-on approach to learning.

BA in Theatre

The Bachelor of Arts in theatre is a 120-hour degree program at Brenau University, which includes 43 credit hours of theatre coursework and 21 credit hours of elective courses in theatre and related disciplines. Students will receive a solid foundation in all aspects of theatre with the opportunity to craft a curriculum path that meets their specific interests and needs.

BFA in Acting

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting is a 120-hour degree program at Brenau University. Students can audition during the college application process or at the end of freshman year. Beyond basic core instruction of a variety of theatre arts, BFA Acting students receive intensive training in performance from faculty, guest artists and visiting professionals offering master classes.

BFA in Musical Theatre

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre is a 120-hour degree program at Brenau University, which includes a 46-credit-hour core, 10 credit hours in dance and 16 credit hours in music. Students are trained and educated to be competitive within the musical theatre profession.

BFA in Costuming for Film & Theatre

The BFA in Costuming for Film & Theatre at Brenau University is intended for students interested in pursuing a competitive career in both the film and theatre markets. Utilizing resources from theatre and fashion design departments, this degree allows for an individualized curriculum focused on application and theory, with a foundation in fashion and costume history.
