DETI Tracks Out-of-State Learning Placements

Logo of National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA)

UNG is an NC-SARA institution.

DETI needs to know before UNG students leave Georgia when they participate in internships (for degree credit), rotations, student teaching, etc.

This does not include other internships (such as a non-credit Summer job) or field trips.

DETI tracks out-of-state placements that meet all of the following criteria:

  • The placement is outside of Georgia;
  • The placement involves the physical presence of the student at the out-of-state location(s);
  • The placement is an activity required for degree completion or professional licensure;
  • The placement is offered for credit and/or for a fee.

Career Services Form

If a student is required to fill out an Internship Learning Agreement form, available through UNG’s Career Services, follow the instructions on the form and send DETI a copy.

Rule of 10 for Internships

National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) regulations allow up to ten students to participate at one time, at one location, in out-of-state learning placements. DETI uses UNG’s internship learning agreement forms (available on the Career Services website) to keep track of students learning out-of-state. Please follow the instructions on the form and send a copy of the completed, signed form to DETI.

New Regulation for 2019

DETI will use the Internship Learning Agreement forms to file paperwork with NC-SARA listing the number of students, the state, and the subject of the learning placement. This information is for the calendar year January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

If you have not already submitted a 2018 Internship Learning Agreement to DETI, please send a copy by the end of April.
