Cottrell Speaker Series scheduled for February 15th with FedEx VP Neil Gibson

On February 15th, we will be hosting our first Cottrell Speaker Series of the semester. We have the honor of welcoming Neil Gibson, the Vice President of Corporate Communications at FedEx Services.

Before joining FedEx in 1999, Gibson served as a captain in the United States Air Force, leading military and civilian personnel in the evaluation of new weapons and communications systems. The communication skills that he acquired throughout his military experience continue to serve him well in his career at FedEx.

Throughout his time at FedEx, Gibson has held leadership positions in Marketing including Director of Digital Access Marketing and Manager of Electronic Channels Marketing. Prior to his current role, he was the Director of International Marketing responsible for U.S. export product management, product development, and marketing strategy. He is currently responsible for defining and developing the company’s communication strategies by providing direction for company reputation management, employee communications, social media, media relations, crisis management and corporate citizenship.

Gibson uses his impeccable leadership skills to develop teams that consistently outperform their competitors. During his time at FedEx, FedEx was ranked 12th on Bloomberg Businessweek magazine’s “Civic 50” list of America’s Most Community-Minded Companies for 2012. They are consistently ranked on Fortune magazine’s list of “Best Companies to Work For” and they ranked 8th on the 2016 list of “World’s Most Admired Companies.”

While being a successful leader in the workplace, Gibson is also an active member in the community. He works with organizations such as United Way, that aim to build stronger communities through the improvement of education and financial stability. He is also involved in  FedEx Family House whose mission it is to create a home away from home for families with children receiving treatment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
