On Thursday, March 1, the Mike Cottrell College of Business will host its first ever Day of Giving.
What is the Day of Giving?
The Day of Giving is a 12-hour (8 AM – 8 PM) social media effort taking place on Thursday, March 1, to generate financial and volunteer support for the Mike Cottrell College of Business at UNG. It will be hosted across the College’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat (ungmccb), and LinkedIn) and on the College’s blog.
Why does the Mike Cottrell College of Business need additional support? Isn’t it supported by the state?
In just the past 4 years, the Mike Cottrell College of Business at UNG has grown 47%. The College now serves over 4,400 business and technology students across five campuses and enrolls more than 20% of the entire University of North Georgia student body.
With support from our communities and partners, we’ve seen a lot of success. UNG continues to leverage the limited state funding available to support our students’ learning needs. However as UNG continues to grow, the Mike Cottrell College of Business is growing faster, with per-student funding struggling to maintain pace with demand.
Industries across Georgia have also changed. Disruptive innovation, cybersecurity threats, the digital marketplace, growth in new industries, human capital concerns, and many others have become dominant challenges and opportunities for our local and regional businesses.
In order to continue to serve our communities well, it is critical that the business and technology education we provide students the education they need, maintain the pace of industry and provide a strong foundation in professional development.
Each of these areas require additional funding and volunteer support outside of state funding.
What’s the goal?
Our goal is to raise $10,000 in one day for the Mike Cottrell College of Business. All of these funds will go to support programming for students in the areas we feature throughout the day.
How can I help?
The most impactful thing you can do is support the College on Thursday,March 1st. From $5 to $1,000, every dollar will help us reach our goal of $10,000 on this day. A special webpage will be published during the week of the event to support this one day effort. Please share or donate here using the following link. DAY OF GIVING LINK
If you are unable to support this effort financially, sharing our content across social media can be helpful. Volunteer opportunities will also be available for you to help our students grow professional as well.
We hope you will consider supporting the Mike Cottrell College of Business at UNG as we strive to build strong graduates and strong communities within our region and around the globe.
