At the beginning of a semester, students read over their syllabi and begin planning out the many learning activities that will contribute to their learning. Scheduling—especially at the start a semester—is key.

So, too, for faculty.

Starting the first week of classes, 14 faculty in Dahlonega and Gainesville will begin the 12-week long Write Now Academy. Using Wendy Belcher’s Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks to structure their academic writing activities and processes, these faculty will meet in-person four times during the 12 weeks and use a shared Google doc to keep track of their weekly progress.

Participating faculty include:

  • Katherine Adams
  • Chris Bell
  • Judith Brauer
  • Diana Chang
  • Autumn Cockrell-Abdullah
  • Sarah Hinkel-Young
  • Jennifer Jones
  • Sabrina Maginnis
  • Esther Morgan-Ellis
  • David Osmond
  • James Stewart
  • Alina Thurman
  • Michael Tuvlin
  • Juanita Woods

Michael Rifenburg will oversee the Academy with Abby Meyer co-facilitating on the Dahlonega and Paul Raptis co-facilitating on the Gainesville campus. In the Spring, Derek Thiess will run a Write Now Academy on the Oconee campus.

Last academic year, close to thirty faculty participated in the Academy across four campuses. Two faculty have already seen their work published.
